Hello! I'm Lea Choi.
Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist | Neurodiverse Couples & Parenting Specialist

💛 Love Doesn’t Always Speak the Same Language

If you’ve ever felt like you’re pouring your heart out and still not being heard… I get it.

As someone who is both autistic and ADHD (AuDHD), I live the experience of thinking and feeling differently than the world expects.

It’s not a flaw—it’s a different rhythm. One that brings creativity, depth, intensity, and sometimes, real challenges in communication and connection.

In my own relationships and as a parent of a neurodivergent child, I’ve had to learn how to make room for difference while still building emotional safety and trust. That lived experience gives me a deep, intuitive understanding of what it takes to support neurodiverse couples. Not just in theory—but in the day-to-day reality of living, loving, parenting, and trying to grow together.

🧭 Therapy That Moves at the Speed of Your Relationship

Most couples therapy gives you 50 minutes a week to figure things out. But when you're dealing with years of missed signals, sensory mismatch, executive function chaos, or emotional fatigue… that just isn’t enough.

That’s why I offer custom-designed private retreats for neurodiverse couples. These aren’t big group events or cookie-cutter programs. This is a retreat created just for you two—based on your story, your needs, your pace.

Before we even meet for the retreat, we’ll spend time in an extended consultation process. We’ll talk through what’s working, what’s not, and what kind of support will actually move the needle. You don’t need to fit into someone else’s therapy box—we’ll build one that works for you.

And if you're someone who processes better from home, good news: this can all be done virtually. You can do deep, focused work with your partner in your own sensory-friendly space—with a weighted blanket, a fidget cube, or a favorite drink nearby.

💬 My Approach

I support couples who are navigating big differences in communication, regulation, and relational needs—without shaming either partner. I create a space where both people can feel seen, understood, and supported.

I specialize in:

  • Neurodiverse couples (autistic + allistic, ADHD + autistic, AuDHD + AuDHD—all the combos!)

  • Parents of neurodivergent kids who are trying to stay connected while juggling IEPs, meltdowns, and burnout

  • LGBTQIA+, polyamorous, and kink-affirming partnerships

  • Cross-cultural and immigrant families navigating identity, language, and generational gaps

I believe:

  • Relationships don’t need to look “typical” to be meaningful and strong

  • Your neurotype doesn’t need fixing—your relationship just needs new tools

  • Therapy should be creative, customized, and as flexible as you are

  • You deserve support from someone who understands your wiring firsthand

I draw from Narrative Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), and the Gottman Method to help couples reconnect in ways that honor both people’s experiences.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Parenting in a Neurodivergent Family

Parenting is hard enough—add neurodivergence (in you, your child, or both), and suddenly it’s a whole new level.

The traditional advice doesn’t work. The books don’t speak your language. And the pressure to “get it right” is crushing.

I work with parents who are:

  • Trying to co-parent across neurotypes

  • Navigating burnout, guilt, or feeling like they’re “failing”

  • Wanting to support their child without losing themselves

Together, we develop parenting approaches that are grounded in regulation, flexibility, and compassion—for your child and for you.

A Final Word

If you and your partner are ready to step out of the cycle you’ve been stuck in—and into something more spacious, supportive, and grounded in your neurotypes—I’d be honored to design a retreat just for you.

You don’t have to do it the “normal” way.

You just have to do it your way. I’ll meet you there.
